Impending Google Analytics Changes: What It Means for Your Association Website

When was the last time you logged into your Google Analytics account?  If you’re like me and wear multiple hats with “Analytics Guru” being hat number 8 or 9, probably not in a while. So when I logged in earlier this week to check out the fuss about “Universal Analytics” I did a double take. (More on “Universal Analytics” in a minute.)

My beloved categories and other key metrics had changed by name or location. I’m used to seeing Visits and Unique Visitors and did a double take to see new terms including “Sessions” and “Users.” I’m used to using these terms in a web development, but my Google Analytics brain wasn’t ready for the shift.

Welcome to this week’s issue of the 5 For Friday series. I don’t have a theme this week so it’s a potluck of interesting tips and news I found through this week’s reading.

Pinterest could be the number 2 social network

While we have been tweeting and worrying about Facebook likes, PInterest has roared into our collective consciousness.  Much has been written about what makes good Pinterest content and Maggie McGary even publishes her Pins of the Week.

Which is why this article from Huffington Post caught my eye because it points out how Pinterest is duking it out with Twitter for the #2 social network.  I find it interesting Google+ isn’t mentioned but for some reason the studies they used didn't query about Google+.
